Apple domination

Apple seems to be in a league of its own nowadays, I mean they have always been different from the other computer companies but now they have completely surpassed everyone else. There breakthrough started with the aluminum built Mac book pro and soon after they came out with the iphone which really put apple on the map it became the most popular device practically overnight they followed the progress they made with the iPhone by coming out with an iPod based on the same technology and that also instantaneously became a hit and set a record in sales for mobile music devices. It became the bar for all mobile devices afterwards, you would often see new phones brand themselves the iPhone killer or new mp3 players would boast that they had more memory than the iPod but these things never stopped people from buying them other companies tried so hard to bring apple down from its pedestal but it just wasn’t happening. It wasn’t until the iphone 4 came out with a minor design flaw the revolutionary antenna had a problem with signal. It became the biggest thing on the news and all over the internet. Other phone companies took this opportunity to take a hit at the once invincible device. You would notice phone commercials that hinted at the iPhones flaws and stating that you could hold their phone however you wanted to. Apple wasted no time fixing this problem but the damage was already done the iphone finally fell of its pedestal.

Whats up with these cartoons?

My favorite television show used to be and still is chowder it is a cartoon that aired on cartoon network for a while. I know I might be a little old to be watching cartoons but it still entertains me for some reason. I had stopped watching cartoons for a while when we didn’t have cable when I finally got cable back and I wanted to get back to watching my favorite cartoon it was nowhere to be found its been replaced with some new cartoons that don’t even make sense. I mean if I had kids I don’t think I would let them watch this crap that they are showing nowadays. Half of the stuff they are showing makes no sense and there is no story behind what they’re saying it’s just complete crap. After I forced myself to watch the utter garbage that they were calling cartoons nowadays I switched channels to another cartoon channel hopping that they had something better going on. I ended up being equally disappointed with what they had to offer it really seems like they just throw anything out there nowadays. There is no effort going into these cartoons I remember back in the day when not only were the cartoons funny but they actually had a meaning to them and maybe even taught you something. I can’t name the amount of classical music I learned from Tom and Jerry or what moral values I learned from superman or Popeye. They need to do better.

Movies

Star wars was one of the most popular movies ever made it created its own universe. Every sci-fi movie that came after it had to compete with it but none came close and star wars was king of sci-fi for years to come. Heated arguments were sparked over the movie and whole stadiums were bought out to host conventions just in the honor of the movie and anyone that even dared say it was not the best sci-fi movie ever made basically condemned there selves. It wasn’t till 2009 almost twenty years later that a movie came out that actually rivaled it in gross sales and popularity the movies name was avatar. The movie was about a group of humans that were trying to harvest a planet of a rare mineral. The problem was there is an indigenous race of aliens that inhabited the planet, the humans way of trying to persuade the race of aliens was to create a clone of the aliens that could be controlled remotely by humans. This movie ended up being the highest grossing film in the world it destroyed all six of the star wars previous records. But there is still some speculation that avatar could not come anywhere close to a classic like star wars they may in fact be right but avatar itself is now becoming a legend doing the same thing star wars did years ago. Nobody wants the darth vader costume for Halloween anymore everyone wants to dress up as one of the characters from avatar.

Things i like to do

There are a lot o things that I like in life, lots of things that bring me joy, I will go on to name a few of those things. One of my favorite hobbies is working on cars; I don’t know what it is about getting all greasy that just excites me. I like to add performance to cars I’ve helped my friends work on project cars over the years but I have yet to have a project car of my own. One day I will have enough money to finance my hobby and I will be very happy. Another one of my joys in life is computers; I love to build computers and anything that makes computers perform better such as cooling the computer off to increase its reliability under load. My computer hobby is also a pretty expensive hobby parts for computers rarely go under twenty dollars. All these things make me very happy indeed I will make sure one day I will be able to afford all these things. My last major hobby is playing video games but I mean who doesn’t like video games, I mean there cheap and provide hours of entertainment I think that of all my hobbies playing video games should be the easiest one to keep up with.

Video games

Slowly but surely video games are taking over the world, they tie into everything that we do nowadays even getting fit. Video games have come a long way since the days of pong and those really old games your parents used to play, or even your grandparents. The technology in games nowadays is amazing the lengths the go to make a good game these technologies include live motion capturing of living people and motion detection such as the Wii, the Playstation 3 and Xbox have all followed suit and each have their own version of this technology. I’m sure we all wonder what the future has in store for the video game world maybe one day we will have a complete virtual reality suit that will completely immerse us into the game or maybe something were we could actually feel what we are touching in the game, feel the texture and all the little details of the object. I can’t even remember what my first video game was I think it was the original black and white game boy with super Mario. I remember the first day with my new game boy I couldn’t put it down it wasn’t till the battery died that I finally gave it a rest that is till two minutes later when I got some new ones. That night I slept with my game boy and wouldn’t let anyone see it even though my uncle desperately wanted to try it out I kept denying him.

What if

What if one day your girlfriend called you and told you she was pregnant? How would you react to that, I know how I would react I would be scared senseless. The first thing that would come to mind would be everything, including telling my family, telling her family and dealing with the whole situation. I mean I understand that I would have nine months to prepare myself but I am the type that likes to be overly prepared especially when it is something as important as a little ones life. I always wonder if I would make a good father but I don’t think I want to find out just yet. Another thing to take into account is my age I think a child would really hinder my future and if not mine then my girlfriends because someone has to watch the baby while the other goes to school and or work. All in all I think it is just a big stressful ordeal that can easily be avoided by just using protection or dare I say it not doing it at all. I know that sounds crazy especially for people around my age but it is just the bare truth. If you are not prepared for the consequences then just avoid the situation in a whole. You will end up thanking yourself when you’re the one out of your group to actually make it to adulthood and have done all that you wanted without a child in your group of friends.

The future

What does the future have in store for me? This is a universal question among all human beings. But I still have to wonder what is in my future, will I get that car I always wanted. I always wanted the most exotic car there was out at the time and the one that sounded the best I think my choice right now would be the Aston martin one seventy seven it is a beautiful car that makes one of the meanest sounds I have ever heard out of a car. I would also like the Buggati veyron the fastest car in the world just to see how going two hundred and fifty plus miles an hour feels like. If it really numbs your body and even the slightest movement will have dire consequences. Next on my list of things I would like is the perfect house, I always liked modern style houses maybe something with a view but not too secluded. I don’t know where the perfect location would be but I could always picture my dream house. The best part about it is that all these things don’t have to be dreams with a little determination and hard work all of these things can be accomplished but maybe in like my thirties or fourties. Maybe I’ll be a big ceo of a giant fortune five hundred company. Of course the last thing on my list is the perfect wife the kind that can be a trophy wife but not a complete idiot at the same time.

Skateboarding

I’ve been watching these guys around campus riding skateboards and I don know what it is but now I feel like I would like to learn also. I’ve always wanted to learn to skateboard but I was always afraid of falling on my ass and embarrassing myself in front of everyone. But I noticed a trend, the kids that an actually skate on campus skate during the day while the ones that aren’t so good wait till night when no one is there to laugh or make jokes. After noticing this I decided well maybe I should try it and see how it goes. My next task was to find a skateboard which turned out to be more of a chore than I expected. I thought I could ride down to Wal-mart and pick up a board that I like but it turns out there is a lot of research that has to go into choosing a board that suits you. You have to take into account your height, weight, and what the main thing you would use your board for will be. Another thing was how expensive they are, when I saw how much the ones at Wal-mart cost I was relieved but after I was told that they were complete crap and I was shown the real board and the real prices I thought twice about buying one. The average price of a board is seventy dollars and the good ones are even more money. I think I’ll hold out on my urges to skateboard for a while till I get some money.

My phone

So my phone is giving problems which is very strange, in the whole year that I have had the phone it has never once given me a problem but all of a sudden it wants to go haywire. I own an Iphone as some people may know the Iphone is a very reliable and smooth operating phone it rarely succumbs to freezing and other issues that some other phones that shall remain nameless suffer from on the regular. My problems started one night when I was on the phone with my girlfriend I noticed that my screen was flashing black and white, I was on my Bluetooth so I unlocked my phone to see what the problem was after unlocking it I noticed that it was acting very sluggish and that the battery meter was saying it was close to dead when I had in fact just taken it of the charger a minute ago. After noticing these problems the screen went black again and my Bluetooth headset got real quiet not even the random static every once in a while. I said hello but no one answered when I tried to turn my phone back on it failed to come on and then it said that it needed to be charged and was completely dead. Upon returning to my room I plugged my phone up and attempted to turn my phone on but it failed to turn on in the end I had to reset my whole phone and ended up losing a few numbers because I had not backed it up in a while. I plan on getting a new phone soon.

Marriage

Why are more and more couples getting married younger and younger nowadays. It seems like everyone is in a rush to find love but are never prepared for the responsibility that comes with marriage and starting a family. It’s sad to see so many heartbroken young women nowadays that aren’t even out of their twenties saying they have been through divorce already. I don’t get it what is the big rush is everyone ready to be tied down or is it that they have been through so many crappy relationships that they just want to find Mr. or Mrs. Right and they fail to realize a marriage cant be based of the fact that you two like the same ice cream and have sex all the time. There is a lot more to a lifetime commitment than the little things. Another problem that young marriages face is the move in stage they think that they will be ok living with their chosen spouse but they have never actually spent more than a few hours in the same room with the other person, they don’t know how the people act when they are not trying to be on their best behavior and impress you on a date. They fail to realize that the way they are outside is not necessarily the same way the act while behind closed doors. So a word of advice to all those looking to rush and get married, please take your time and get to know the person before you make those vows.

I need a job

I am in desperate need of a job. Why is it so hard for me to find a job, everyone around me has a job, even my little brother has a job. The funny thing is I am way more qualified for most of the jobs than the people that actually have them. If I had a dollar for the amount of times I have been to best buy looking for something and have known more about what I was looking for than the actual people that work there. It’s sad actually it makes me wonder who did they know or what favor did they do to get there job because they sure didn’t get it based off knowledge. It makes me question even harder why it is so difficult for me to find a job, people say I need to start small, I’m sure I have applied to almost every fast food place in existence and to every Wal-mart, Target, or Sams club in the area. My real dream is to work at Best Buy in the computer department so I can give people advice on their purchases and make their lives all the more easier. I might even want to move on to the geek squad one day if I’m up to it. If none of that works out I might as well just go check and see if McDonalds is hiring because some money is better than nothing and then I could actually use that as work experience.

Why am i always hungry

It seems like I’m hungry all the time nowadays, as a matter of fact I’m hungry right now. To me that’s crazy to be hungry all the time like I am, I mean I understand the teenage guy stage were you eat like a horse and are still hungry but I am 19 years old I thought by now I would have grown out of that phase of my life. Sometimes I have the weirdest cravings and I never feel satisfied till I get what I’ve been craving. I remember the other day I was in the mood for Italian but it was way past the time to get anything to eat from the café and all I had in my room was chunky soup and ramen noodles. Not exactly very appetizing when you’re in the mood for chicken alfreado from olive garden. Even though it wasn’t exactly what I wanted I had to make it work because I was so hungry, I ended up just eating the chunky soup and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a tall glass of Gatorade. I was actually more satisfied than I thought I would be with the little that I had but I will be sure to pick up some more appetizing things the next time I go home for the weekend. I wonder how good those little microwavable meals are I always see my roommate with them and I am tempted to try them. I hope they are not expensive.

My classes

So college is just as hard as everyone told me it would be. I always thought they weren’t as smart as me and that I would do fine but they in fact spoke the truth. I didn’t think I would have to put in as much work to pass my classes just like I did in high school where I barely did anything but still managed to get A’s . That plan backfired on me big time it turns out I’m now failing two of my five classes, boy are my parents going to be mad. You live and you learn though so I know from now on I need to actually put some effort into what I do and I’m going to have to take those classes I failed over next semester. Maybe it’s a lack of interest because I know when I’m actually interested in something it never seems boring or hard to me so maybe I’m in the wrong major who knows. Maybe when I actually start doing the things that have something to do with my major I will feel better because right now im just feeling like what the hell does public speaking have to do with computer engineering technology, even though that is one of the classes I have the highest grades in. I don’t know what it is exactly all I know is that next semester I won’t have this problem and I will be more focused on what I have to do because I don’t want to be stuck in college for longer than I should.

A guy and his car

Every young guys dream is to get a car, a nice car at that. Well I share that common dream with most guys but I haven’t had much luck with it coming true. I wasn’t blessed with parents that bought me everything I wanted so it seems I have to save up for a car. The worst part of this whole ordeal is that I actually had my money saved up at the end of my senior year but I had to use it to pay for dorm room stuff and school supplies I also bought a new laptop since the battery was going bad in my old one. I haven’t given up though I will try and get a job close to school and start saving all over again it may take a while but ill work it out somehow. The car I really want is the Nissan 240sx it’s been my economic dream car since my sophomore year in high school those dreams were shot down as I said because of my college needs but I have my heart set on that car and it will be mine eventually. I have plans for my car once I get it first on my list of things to do is order a racing engine from Japan and get it installed. Yes I am somewhat of a speed demon; the car would be my little personal race car. Even after I buy a newer car afterwards I would still keep it for my personal enjoyment on the weekends.

Im bored

Why the hell is it so boring around here? You would be better off watching paint dry than finding some fun on this campus. I was always told that college was supposed to be a social experience but I don’t see anything social going on around this place all everyone does is stay in their rooms and play video games all day so I figure if you can’t beat them then why not just join them. I tried the whole playing video games all day thing and it turned out not to be so bad but then I found that it used up time that was usually set aside to do work so of course that didn’t work out too well. I just don’t get how they juggle it all and then squeeze sleep into all of I guess that’s why you always see people around here with energy drinks or coffee and always talking about how late they stayed up. I think I’ll pass on all that and stay bored but be able to do my work and still have time for sleep. I don’t think rushing to do your work is much fun either. I guess ill figure out my perfect balance of fun and work which I think I think is essential to surviving in college. Video games are still fun though so it might be a little hard to resist all the time, maybe I’ll just save it for the weekends when I have more free time.

I want a motorcycle

Something has come over me; I seem to be in the mood for excitement lately. Right now I’m in the mood for some speed, I think I want a motorcycle or maybe just to ride one. I don’t know what it is the thought of going over one hundred miles an hour on the freeway just makes me smile on the inside. Motorcycles have been around me all my life it seems like every male member of my family has had a bike at least for a period of time in my life. My first time on a motorcycle was when I was 11 it seemed huge back then and I didn’t know how anyone could ever ride something like that. Now that I am older and I can actually fit on one properly I feel like I belong on one now, like motorcycles are my vehicle of choice even though everyone around me is against the idea of me getting on I think I still will one day. There are also benefits of riding a motorcycle, for one the money you save on gas will probably pay for the bike in about a year or two. There is also the money you save on insurance; most people think that bike insurance is considerably cheaper than car insurance. Maybe I might treat myself to one around Christmas time and surprise everyone; I might even take my girl for a ride. Hope she doesn’t get scared and start crying like a baby.

If I Was Invisible

If I could become invisible what would I do with those powers? Would I use them to sneak into a ladies restroom maybe? I think not, the idea of waiting in the bathroom for what may be hours amidst the overweight women and the not so attractive ones for a lady that is actually worth the effort to waltz in, and then what? Would I wait for her to find a stall and peek in to only be disgusted and possibly nauseated at what I see? I think not there must be a better use for such great powers, could I maybe cheat on the important test coming up? Still not such a good idea even though I would probably ace the test I would not know how to do any of the work myself after that and would have therefore wasted my time. What a conundrum this is trying to find a worthwhile use for these powers, could I spy on people maybe? The only problem is I am not the type to sneak around and wait for maybe even a fragment of information that has no relevance to me or that I couldn’t have found out from searching on Google. The only good use I see for these powers so far is playing pranks. You could pull the worst, most daring, and most embarrassing pranks ever, now that sounds more like it. If I could ever turn invisible I would turn the place upside down and no one would ever know who did it.

Why People Lie

Why do people lie? A question that has been asked numerous times over the course of history is it hardwired into human behavior or is it just a bad habit that people can get rid of. Some people lie to make themselves look good, for instance a guy may lie about what he does for a living to get with the girl at the bar. This only leads him to have to lie again when the lady starts asking questions like “if you make as much as you say you do what’s with this car”? Other people lie because they don’t want to hurt others feeling or they think that it's just easier to tell a little white lie. For instance if your wife asks you if she’s getting fat every man in his right mind know to say “no honey of course not” even though its clearly obvious that she’s packing on the pounds, she may even know it too but just wants some comfort. Some people lie for money they con you into buying something that’s supposed to do this wondrous task and it ends up breaking down on you in 2 weeks but what do they care they already have your four payments of nineteen dollars and ninety nine cents. So the question resurfaces why do people lie you ask? They lie to fulfill their own personal goals and aspirations in life no matter what the cost or they lie to keep from sleeping on the couch at night.

Dusty Dorm

Being sick and going to school don’t mix its so hard to concentrate when your head is pounding. This past week was pretty rough at first it started as a runny nose and progressed to a sore throat and a splitting headache. Doing my homework became even more of a chore that it already was the minutes dragged on as I tried to complete all my work. I didn’t know what was wrong with me till I looked up my symtoms online it seemed that I had the flu.I thought to myslef im not that sick I might just have a cold or something like that come to find out that it was neither of those things. Turns out theres a lot of dust in our dorm rooms and that an excess of dust can have an adverse affect on your health. So with this new information I went online to find out how I could get rid of all the dust with items that I already had in the dorm room. It seems that the most effective way to get rid of dust in a small room is to first clean the room of any loose dust or dirt then fill a spray bottle up with warm water and randomly spray in the air around the room. I tried this solution and it seems to have worked my throat still feels a bit harsh but other that that I am feeling much better. I would think that these things are handled by the school but It seems not, only at spsu.

First Post

                Well this is my first post I am pretty new to the blogging thing but it is a requirement of my class so I guess I have to do it. The southern polytech campus is so boring and devoid of life it’s like there’s nothing better to do than sit in your dorm and wait for your next class to start. Unless you’re into the whole club thing, which I am not then maybe you might find something to do. Move in day was pretty interesting I noticed that there were no girls moving into my dorm which made me uncomfortable. They say the first night of college is often the wildest but my night consisted of playing call of duty, walking to Wal-Mart, and searching desperately to find some females. The next day was not much better there was nothing to do all day, no one came to the so called social gatherings, and I finally find out that all the girls are holed up on the top floor of Howell hall afraid to venture out it seems they fear the possibility of being eaten alive by the guys who patiently waited like hungry sharks that just smelled blood in the water. It may not be the most fun campus but the professors seem to know what they’re doing from what I’ve seen so far so I guess I pass off a load of fun for a good education which is fine to me because I’m paying for it now.
